New to Scouting? Here is some basic information:

Cub Scout Pack 18

Boy Scouts of America

Cub Scouting is for boys from 1st through 5th Grades.  You can join our Pack or transfer from another Pack at any time during the year provided a space is available in the age appropriate den.  Cub Scouting encourages each boy to strive for his personal best, a lesson that will help him achieve success throughout his life.  Cub Scout activities encourage character development, physical coordination, family unity, and enthusiasm for learning.  Most Cub Scout activities are centered around a Den which is comprised of 5-10 boys in the same grade level.

Tiger Cub Program – This program is for 1st Grade boys and their adult partner.  The adult partner is someone (usually a parent) who is at least 18 years of age, cares about the boy, and is strongly committed to his well-being.  The Cub and adult partner participate in Den Meetings (1-2 per month), Pack Meetings (once a month), and Field Trips (once a month).  It is filled with fun activities on the way to earning the Tiger badge.

Wolf Cub Program – This program is for 2nd Grade boys.  The Cub participates in Den Meetings (twice a month), Pack Meetings (once a month), and Field Trips.  The Den meetings are planned and run by an adult den leader and assistant.  It is filled with fun, age appropriate activities.  The Scout and his family work to fulfill the 12 Achievements to earn the Wolf badge.

Bear Cub Program – This program is for 3rd Grade boys.  The Cub participates in Den Meetings (twice a month), Pack Meetings (once a month), and Field Trips.  The Den meetings are planned and run by an adult den leader and assistant.  It is filled with fun, age appropriate activities.  The Cub and his family work to fulfill 12 of 24 achievements to earn the Bear badge.

Webelos Den Program – This program is for 4th and 5th Grade boys.  The Cub participates in Den Meetings (twice a month), Pack Meetings (once a month), and Field Trips.  The Den meetings are planned and run by an adult leader and assistant with help from parents with expertise in various areas.  The Den program is based around the 20 Webelos activity badges.  The Webelos Scout earns eight of the 20 available activity badges on the trail to earning the Webelos badge and Arrow of Light Award.  Webelos Scouts are introduced to traditional Boy Scout activities such as overnight camping, and boys finishing their 5th grade year may “cross over” to membership in a Boy Scout troop.

A boy can visit a Pack meeting and see what Cub Scouting is all about, before he decides to join.  Pack meeting times and places are listed on the home page of this website.
